Wellness centers in schools are dedicated spaces or facilities designed to promote and support the overall well-being of students. These centers typically offer a range of services and activities aimed at enhancing students' physical, mental, and emotional health.
While no two spaces are alike, there are seven guiding design principles that can offer a framework for creating an inclusive wellness environment in education. Incorporating these principles into any wellness space will promote a holistic and diverse space. These elements are: a welcoming environment at check-in, supportive staff, accessibility, flexible lighting, adaptable furniture, high-performance fabrics, secured storage and acoustic control.
